In 1950 the idea of the I Love Lucy show was pitched. Producers didn’t think Americans wouldn accept Lucy and Desi’s mixed race marriage. So, Lucy and Desi went on tour with a vaudeville act to prove the producer’s wrong. Many of the scenes in their act were later done on I Love Lucy including this Cuban Pete number.

True Fact: Lucille Ball always had her Teddy Bear on the set. Desi, knowing Lucy was not naturally funny, would often hold a knife to the bears throat, stopping only when Lucy made the audience laugh.
